MECAM Application Deadline March 2026: The Merian Centre for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb (MECAM) has officially opened applications for its Individual Fellowships 2026–2027, offering a major international opportunity for postdoctoral and advanced scholars in the humanities and social sciences.

What Is the MECAM Fellowship Programme?
The MECAM fellowship is a fully residential international research programme built around the central theme “Imagining Futures: Dealing with Disparity.”
The programme focuses on how societies respond to inequality, transformation, and competing visions of the future across the Maghreb, Europe, and beyond.
Applicants must align their research with at least one of the following Interdisciplinary Research Fields (IRFs):
- Aesthetics and Cultural Practice
- Inequality and Mobility
- Memory and Justice
- Resources and Sustainability
- Identities and Beliefs
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
MECAM Application Deadline March 2026: The fellowship is open to:
- Postdoctoral researchers and advanced scholars
- Applicants from all nationalities, including Indian scholars
- Independent researchers without institutional affiliation
Doctoral candidates are not eligible. Applicants must demonstrate strong interdisciplinary interests and a willingness to engage in collaborative academic work.
Fellowship Structure and Responsibilities
MECAM will select eight fellows in total:
- Six postdoctoral researchers
- Two advanced scholars
Fellows must reside in Tunis for up to eight months and actively participate in:
- Weekly seminars and colloquia
- Research presentations
- Publication of one MECAM Paper
- Co-organising academic workshops
- Annual study days and event weeks
The programme does not require extensive new fieldwork, though limited regional research may be allowed.
